Job Description

This position is responsible for maintaining and assisting with the daily operations for the livestock enterprise. The foreman will participate in farm work duties that includes the care of animals and protection of crops. This position will report directly to the Director of Farm Operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in planting, maintaining, and harvesting research and production fields; assists in maintaining adequate custodial care of all farm animal facilities and related buildings.; operates vehicles and farm equipment including combines, tractors, tillage implements, sprayers, shredders, planters, etc., in performing research and crop production duties; maintains monthly equipment, livestock, feed rations, and hay inventories.
  • Promote the integrated plan of work across mission areas by collaborating with research, extension, academics and farm personnel; develop and implement the overall business strategy by analyzing existing operations and recommending potential improvements; assists in implementing short and long-term plans using technology to improve productivity and optimize performance.
  • Assists in training, supervising and coaching staff to perform work safely on the farm and seek training opportunities for further professional development; supervise and oversee work of student farm workers; other duties as deemed necessary.


Required Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of related experience

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to evaluate the health of animals.


Other Requirements:
  • Position may require lifting of objects and equipment.
